McCreesh Place

Welcome to McCreesh Place

St. Peter’s Homes, Inc. was created in 1989 to assist in the identification, acquisition, rehabilitation and occupation of suitable housing for low income persons in need in the Charlotte area to alleviate homelessness and reduce human suffering.  Today St. Peter’s Homes, Inc. owns and operates McCreesh Place, Charlotte’s first single-room-occupancy (SRO) apartment community, designed to serve sixty-four (64) formerly homeless disabled men with permanent housing and supportive services.

Father Gene McCreesh

The facility is named for The Reverend Eugene P. McCreesh, SJ, a priest at St. Peter’s Catholic and homeless advocate remembered for his passion and dedication to help men and women in need.

We accepted our first resident into our beautiful new facility in November 2003.

Mission & Purpose

St. Peter’s Homes, Inc. provides affordable housing in a recovery-friendly environment with on-site case management services.  The apartment community operates similar to a fair market apartment community with a lease agreement and monthly rental payments from residents.  The Lease or "Lease Agreement" outlines what is expected of residents during their tenancy in McCreesh Place.  Residents may live at McCreesh Place for as long as they wish, if they keep their lease agreement and pay their rent.  Case management services include monitoring resident progress toward achieving goals, linking residents to community resources, vocational assessments, mental health monitoring, life skills development and health care referrals.
